Attorney Joel Conkin spoke at the 4th KOSBE Small Business Night School, on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the new downtown Kingsport Center for Higher Education. Attorney Conkin's presentation focused on Choosing The Right Business Structure: To LLC or to Not LLC? The KOSBE Small Business Night School provides free training, peer-to-peer networking, collaborative problem-analysis and problem-solving, and access to contracting opportunities and financing to small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Wilson Worley Moore Gamble & Stout PC was a sponsor for the 5th Annual Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce Office of Small Business Development & Entrepreneurship (KOSBE) awards that were presented on December 10, 2009, at the BANQ in downtown Kingsport.
Attorneys Dorman Stout, O. Tayor Pickard, Jr. and Melanie Lamb have prepared documents for numerous developers setting up condominium projects under the Tennessee Condominium Act of 2008, which went into effect on January 1, 2009. This Act applies to all condominiums created on or after that date and applies to certain events or occurrences that happen on or after January 1, 2009. The Act also impacts the record keeping requirements of Associations already in existence. These attorneys are available to advise both developers and associations regarding this Act.

WILSON WORLEY MOORE GAMBLE & STOUT, PC Welcomes 3 New Associates to the Firm: Melanie M. Lamb, Aaron M. Duffy and Mark S. Hanor.
MELANIE M. LAMB is a Tri-Cities native and joined Wilson Worley in August 2008 after receiving her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. While attending the College of Law, Ms. Lamb was a published member of Transactions: The Tennessee Journal of Business Law. She also revised the publication Animal Laws of Tennessee as part of UT Pro Bono’s Animal Law Project. As part of her legal education, Ms. Lamb studied international law at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. She received her B.S., cum laude, from Middle Tennessee State University where she double-majored in Economics and Political Science. Ms. Lamb is now licensed in Tennessee and Virginia and focuses her practice in Business Transactions, Creditors’ Rights, Employment Law, Estate Planning, and Real Estate.
AARON M. DUFFY is a Nashville native and joined Wilson Worley in August 2008 after receiving his J.D. from Vanderbilt University. While attending Vanderbilt, Mr. Duffy was on the dean’s list and was a member of Vanderbilt’s International Moot Court Team. He also served on the executive committee of the Christian Legal Society and served as an intern for the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He received his B.S., cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he majored in Computer Science.
Mr. Duffy is now licensed in Tennessee and focuses his practice in Commercial Litigation, Employment Law, and Estate Planning and Administration.
MARK S. HANOR is a Tri-Cities native and joined the firm in March 2009 after receiving his J.D., cum laude, from Florida State University. While in law school, Mr. Hanor was a member of the Florida State Business Law Review, a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law, a teaching assistant for Legal Research and Writing, and a judicial extern for then Chief Judge Edwin B. Browning, Jr. at the First District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee. He received his B.A., cum laude, from Furman University where he majored in Accounting. While at Furman, he was awarded the Fred and June Current Accounting Award, which is presented each year to an outstanding graduating senior majoring in accounting who has shown high academic achievement, has demonstrated leadership in the Furman Accounting Society, and who has actively participated in other campus organizations that have the primary goal of serving others.
Mr. Hanor is now licensed in Virginia and focuses his practice in general Civil Litigation, Business and Commercial Litigation, and Business Transactions.
Attorney Robert L. Arrington recently completed a ten-day arbitration hearing in Dayton, Ohio, in which he chaired the three-person arbitration panel. The Panel's decision will be due later this year.
Arrington has also been named to the American Arbitration Association's roster of mediators, and to its roster of arbitrators for non-binding employment arbitration. He has been a member of the AAA's roster of neutrals for the binding arbitration of commercial and employment disputes since 2002.
Arrington's article, "Tips for Advocates in Arbitration" was published in the June 2009 issue of The TBA Journal.
WWMGS is pleased to congratulate Attorney Rick Currie for successful defense of a medical malpractice claim in federal court in Greeneville, Tennessee during the week of May 11-15, 2009. The jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant. Mr. Currie was assisted at trial by Attorney Russell Adkins.
Attorney Frank A. Johnstone successfully prosecuted a motion for relief from the automatic bankruptcy stay involving substantial collateral in United Stated Bankruptcy Court.

Attorney Andrew T. Wampler has been appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Tennessee Board of Professional Responsiblity - District I Hearing Officer.
Attorney Wampler was awarded the Frank K. Moore Keyperson of the Year - 2009 by the Kingsport Jaycees. Wampler was also recognized at the Kingsport Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on May 4, 2009.
Attorney Wampler has also been selected to participate in the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law Program for 2009.
Attorney Russell W. Adkins has been selected to serve as the 2009 Chair-Elect and the 2010 Chair of the Kingsport Office of Small Business Development & Entrepeneurship, an in-house program of the Kingsport Chamber.
Attorney Steven C. Huret has been named to the American Arbitration Association Roster of Neutrals for the arbitration of expedited commercial and customer account claims.
